ELDER'S MEDITATION OF THE DAY DECEMBER 31

Elder's Meditation of the Day December 31

"They must give themselves to Wakan' Tanka and live a spiritual life. They will have the peace that frees them from fear." --Frank Fools Crow, LAKOTA

There are two wills available for us: self will and God's will. Our choice is: figure it out ourselves, or have the Creator involved in our lives. If we are honest with ourselves and look at past experiences, what are our lives like when we try to figure it out ourselves? Is there fear, confusion, frustration, anger, attacking others, conflict, fault finding, manipulation, teasing others, belittling others or devaluation? If these things are present, they indicate that we are choosing self will. What is it like if we turn our will over to the Creator? What are the results if we ask the Great Spirit to guide our life? Examples are: freedom, choices, consequences, love, forgiveness, helping others, happiness, joy, solutions, and peace. Which will I choose today, self will or God's will?

Creator, I know what my choice is. I want You to direct my life. I want You to direct my thinking. You are the Grandfather. You know what I need even before I do. Today I ask You to tell me what I can do for You today. Tell me in a way I can understand and I will be happy to do it.

GIVE ABUSED WOMEN THE HELP THEY NEED IN THE NEW YEAR 2011!

Women from every walk of life are suffering abuse throughout the world today at the hands of men they love - so much so, that domestic violence is a leading cause of death and disability among women. Often, these hurting women seek help from the people who should care the most about freeing them from their oppression: Christians. But too many Christians fail to help abused women, letting the evil of abuse continue in many homes where men proclaim faith in Christ yet ignore His commands to truly love the women close to them.

Don't ignore the abuse that women you know - even women at your church - are going through, no matter how uncomfortable it may make you. Choose to become part of the solution by answering God's call to give abused women the help they need. Here's how:

Ask God to open your eyes to prevalence and severity of the problem. Pray for the ability to notice women around you who are suffering from physical, sexual, emotional, or verbal abuse, and to feel compassion for the women and also for the hurting men who are inflicting their pain on the women they abuse. Seek to understand some of the common reasons why women struggle to break free of abusive relationships, such as fear of what men might do if they leave, hope that the men will change their abusive behavior, and the economic dependence of some women on men. Realize that domestic violence is a complex and serious problem that affects many couples - including many Christian ones - who desperately need people willing to minister to them with God's love. Keep in mind that the home is no place for abuse, and the church is no place for silence, so don't turn away whenever you encounter the reality of abuse taking place in the lives of women you know.

Increase awareness in your church. Use means such as sermon illustrations, information packets, posters, and training materials to inform your congregation about domestic violence and urge them to be alert to it among people in their own community.

Condemn abusive behavior. Speak out against domestic violence whenever you have an opportunity to do so, making it clear that God does not condone abusive behavior in any circumstances.

Educate people. Teach people how to deal with their disappointments and frustrations in nonviolent ways when they gather for adult Bible studies or Sunday school classes, or during youth group meetings. When engaged couples go through their premarital counseling at your church, help them learn how to resolve conflicts in healthy ways and understand that authority in the home is meant for loving servant leadership rather than controlling and dominating another person. Train church staff and volunteers how to recognize signs that people may be suffering abuse, as well as how to reach out to those people in practical and effective ways. In sermons, discuss the importance of respecting other people and working to build and maintain peaceful relationships

DON"T TURN AWAY FROM GOD FOR ANY REASON

Proverbs 1:32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

Sin and self-satisfaction bring destruction and death to stupid fools. To be rich and famous for such a short time here in the world, doing it by stealing and evil is such stupidity compared to an eternity with Father, with love, with peace and joy forever. Without wisdom, without reverence of God, they simply can never understand this.

THE WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD

Ephesians 6:10-24

The Whole Armor of God

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power. Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. With all of these, take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints. Pray also for me, so that when I speak, a message may be given to me to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it boldly, as I must speak.

Personal Matters and Benediction

So that you also may know how I am and what I am doing, Tychicus will tell you everything. He is a dear brother and a faithful minister in the Lord. I am sending him to you for this very purpose, to let you know how we are, and to encourage your hearts.

Peace be to the whole community, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all who have an undying love for our Lord Jesus Christ.

WISDOM OF YELLOW HORSE MAN MINISTRIES

Messages from the Heart of Yellow Horse Man "Life as we know it is changing, Mother Earth is changing. Where there was once great forests now there are towns and cities. Their lights fill the skies where once it was only the stars and the moon that lit the night skies. There was once a time when the rivers flowed clean and free. Now many are dammed and polluted. The skies were filled with the winged one's and the four legged were free to roam and now many have become extinct. The great oceans that were once filled with the many kinds of fish and mammoths have become our dumping place for our unwanted waste and poisons that we no longer need. Once we were healthy and strong human beings, we have now become sick and riddled with disease that we have no cure for as we are told. Now we are able to communicate around the world in just seconds, yet we are not listening to each other or the cries from Mother Earth. We speak of this land as the "land of plenty", yet we allow families to starve. Our leaders speak of peace, yet we create wars. Is it freedom we seek? Or has greed turned our hearts cold? Life as we know it is changing. Have we forgotten the future generations that we speak of? We are now in a time where the leaders of the world no longer care for the people to whom they are to serve. Have we forgotten what is sacred? Have we become so much a part of the illusion that we no longer care to know the truth? Have we all become so fearful that we no longer believe in Great Spirit/Creator/God? In this time of changing Great Spirit is still giving us messages, yet are we listening? In October alone we have all witnessed the great miracles in our skies. The moon coming in front of the sun and then the sun coming in front of the moon. The stars and the planets forming a perfect pentagram. I take this as a message from Great Spirit to believe in our prayers once again and to see all our families coming together in peace. Not just setting aside one day to pray for peace, but to live and pray for peace each day and for harmony and the balance to return to our Mother Earth. To respect all creation and to return our hearts to be one mind, one body, one spirit with Creator/God, true leader of this scared alter we call Mother Earth. This is the time of the awakening where all become responsible for our decisions. Our prophecies have told us of this time where we would have to unite as one sacred family, to join together in Creators dream of peace. All the future generations will depend on our decisions, to once again see all creation as sacred and to believe in our prayers and Creator once again. Because Creator believes in all of you." "Now more than ever we must come together as families for our children and our children's children."

FBI Memo Raises Barbie Child

FBI memo raises Barbie child pornography fears

The Barbie Video Doll The FBI is concerned the doll could get into the wrong hands

Related stories

The FBI has raised concerns that a Barbie doll featuring a video camera could be used by paedophiles.

A memo to investigators warned that the Barbie Video Girl could be used for the "production and possession of child pornography".

An FBI spokeswoman said there had been no reported evidence that the doll, made by Mattell, had been used in any way other than intended.

The agency stressed the alert had been intended only for internal circulation.

It was issued by the Sacramento field office of the FBI, to raise awareness among investigators of "unconventional avenues" by which child pornography can be obtained, the spokeswoman added.

The Barbie Video Girl doll, which went on sale earlier in the year, can record up to 30 minutes of footage through a digital camera on its front.

The images can be viewed on the doll itself, or can be uploaded to a computer via USB cable.

Mattel said its products were "designed with children and their best interests in mind".

Its statement added: "Many of Mattel's employees are parents themselves and we understand the importance of child safety - it is our number one priority."

THE Curious World of ST. NICOLAS In Other Countries

Today is St. Nicolas Day. Cheers to the Jolly Old Elf and kudos to Claire Suddath for the following bio...

Santa Claus doesn't talk about it very often, but he's actually Turkish. The world's most famous toymaker has had a diverse career -- that's what happens when you stick around for over 1,700 years -- and has dabbled in everything from raising the dead to working at the mall. A timeline of St. Nick's illustrious life:

circa 280 A.D.Nicholas is born in Patara, Lycia -- part of modern day Turkey. Like others of the Emperor Constantine generation, he enters a life of religious servitude. He works his way up from abbot to the archbishop of Myra -- a nearby town -- and gets his first nickname: Nicholas of Myra.

325 A.D. Nicholas attends the First Council of Nicaea and helps create the Nicene Creed, which millions upon millions of Sunday School children will later memorize. Tip: children who mention this in their annual letter to Santa receive an average of 3 extra toys.

330 A.D. When a father doesn't have enough money for his three daughters' dowries, dooming them, apparently, to forced prostitution, Nicholas leaves three bags of gold outside the girls' home (or, according to a different version of the story, in their shoes) to keep them from having to pull an Ashley Alexandra Dupr. This is one of the few stories based on some sort of historical record and it explains Nicholas' reputation as a gift-giver.

320-340 A.D. Nicholas becomes famous for performing great miracles. Once he saves a ship from a terrible storm by calming the waves. Another time, he flies through the air to return a kidnapped boy. And most impressive of all, he discovers a triple homicide and brings the victims -- three children who had been chopped into bits and stored in pickle jars -- back to life. Compared to this, making an Xbox by hand is probably child's play.

Dec. 6, 343 A.D. Nicholas dies and is buried in Myra.

6th Century A.D. Nicholas becomes a saint. The Catholic Church had not yet regulated its canonization procedure so it's hard to tell exactly when he is sainted. Nicholas is a very popular saint, especially in Europe. He becomes the patron of more objects and places than any other saint (except maybe Mary), although his primary role is as a guardian of children.

1087 Some Italian sailors steal Nicholas' remains and transfer them to Bari, Italy. Nicholas likes his new home -- well, he doesn't complain -- and his tomb becomes a major pilgrimage site.

The next several hundred years St. Nicholas's "name day," Dec. 6, coincides with the end of harvest and slaughter season in many European countries and becomes a favorite holiday to observe, especially in Holland, where he is known as "Sinterklaas." Kids leave their shoes out in the hopes that he will bring them a present. Nicholas has perfected his ability to tell naughty from nice by this time: Good children get a toy or candy; bad children receive a switch (with which they can be beaten).

16th & 17th centuries Puritanism sweeps England and America. Saints fall out of favor. Many countries stop observing St. Nicholas Day -- excepting Holland. The Dutch are really into shoe gifts.

1659-1681 No-fun Puritans fire the first volley in the war on Christmas, making the holiday illegal in Massachusetts.

1809 New York Historical Society founder John Pintard declares St. Nicholas to be the patron saint of New York City. To back up his friend's claim, Historical Society member Washington Irving publishes a History of New York, which includes a story about Nicholas -- something about the Dutch and "New Amsterdam" and the fact that they're still leaving gifts in children's shoes.

1810 No one really celebrates Saint Nicholas Day in New York, but they do celebrate Christmas. The New York Historical Society publishes a broadside that features a picture of the newly declared patron saint delivering gifts to children during the Christmas season. Nicholas still looks like a saint -- he wears a priestly robe and has a halo around his bald head.

1821 Nicholas delivers presents on Christmas Eve for the very first time. An anonymous poem calls him "Santeclaus" and describes a sleigh pulled by one reindeer.

1822 Clement Clark Moore writes a poem for his children, beginning with the iconic lines, "'Twas the night before Christmas." Within one reading, Nicholas shortens his name to Nick, gains weight, starts smoking and adopts seven more reindeer (probably to pull his excess weight). He embarks on his first breaking-and-entering spree.

1841 The nickname "Santa Claus" has been growing in popularity, so St. Nick adopts it when he greets thousands of children at a Philadelphia department store. He also appears in newspaper advertisements around this time, urging people to buy Christmas presents.

1863Well-known Harper's Weekly cartoonist Thomas Nast -- who also popularized the Uncle Sam image -- draws a red-coated, white-bearded Santa Claus for the very first time. Later Nast drawings will reveal Santa's workshop and home at the North Pole.

1889 Santa Claus gets married.

1897 New York Sun editor Francis Church answers a young reader's letter with the phrase, "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus."

1924 Santa takes his first ride in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

1931 Artist Haddon Sundblom draws a round-faced, red-nosed Santa Claus for a Coca Cola ad.

1934 Santa makes a list and checks it twice.

1939 Santa adopts Rudolph -- the creation of a Montgomery Ward store employee

1947 Santa Claus performs miracles on 34th Street

1952 Santa kisses Jimmy Boyd's mother underneath the mistletoe.

1969 The Catholic Church overhauls its liturgical calendar by de-sainting over 200 people and making the celebration of 92 others, including St. Nicholas, optional.

1979 An elderly woman is run over by one of Santa's reindeer. No charges are filed.

1995 Santa Claus gets his own website.

POEM FROM: The Invitation by ORIAH.

by Oriah from her book THE INVITATION

"It doesn't interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know what you ache for
and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing.

It doesn't interest me how old you are.
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love for your dream
for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon...
I want to know if you have touched the centre of your own sorrow
if you have been opened by life's betrayals
or have become shriveled and closed
from fear of further pain.
I want to know if you can sit with pain
mine or your own
without moving to hide it
or fade it or fix it.
I want to know if you can be with joy
mine or your own
if you can dance with wildness
and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes
without cautioning us
to be careful to be realistic
to remember the limitations of being human.

It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me is true.
I want to know if you can
disappoint another
to be true to yourself.
If you can bear the accusation of betrayal
and not betray your own soul.
If you can be faithless
and therefore trustworthy.
I want to know if you can see Beauty
even when it is not pretty
every day.
And if you can source your own life
from its presence.
I want to know if you can live with failure
yours and mine
and still stand at the edge of the lake
and shout to the silver of the full moon,
"Yes."

It doesn't interest me
to know where you live or how much money you have.
I want to know if you can get up
after the night of grief and despair
weary and bruised to the bone
and do what needs to be done
to feed the children.

It doesn't interest me who you know
or how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand
in the center of the fire with me
and not shrink back.

It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied.
I want to know what sustains you
from the inside when all else falls away.
I want to know if you can be alone
with yourself
and if you truly like the company you keep
in the empty moments

Today's Promise from the

Today's Promise from the Bible
Luke 8:21
And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.

Reflection
Christ had earthly family members, yet here He defines those who are His true family: it is we who hear the word of God and put it into practice. Paul affirms this idea in Romans 8:17 by saying we are joint-heirs with Christ. So believe and go forth living righteously, knowing that you are of the family of God.

The Christmas TEN COMMANDMENTS

The Christmas
Ten Commandments

1. Thou shalt give thy heart to Christ. Let Him be at the top of thy Christmas list

2. Thou shalt prepare thy soul for Christmas. Spend not so much on gifts that thy soul is forgotten.

3. Thou shalt not let Santa Claus replace Christ, thus robbing the day of its spiritual reality.

4. Thou shalt not burden the shop girl, the mailman, and the merchant with complaints and demands.

5. Thou shalt give thyself with thy gift. This will increase its value a hundred fold, and he who receiveth it shall treasure it forever.

6. Thou shalt not value gifts received by their cost. Even the least expensive may signify love, and that is more priceless than silver and gold.

7. Thou shalt not neglect the needy. Share thy blessings with many who will go hungry and cold unless thou are generous.

8. Thou shalt not neglect thy church. Its services highlight the true meaning of the season.

9. Thou shalt be as a little child. Not until thou hast become in spirit as a little one art thou ready to enter into the kingdom of Heaven.

10. Thou shall not forget to share your joy, peace and faith with those around you.

JOYCE MEYER MINISTRIES

Do you like yourself? After years of trying to help people emotionally, mentally, spiritually and socially, it was a major breakthrough when I discovered that most people really dont like themselves. Some of them know it, while others dont even have a clue that this is probably the root of so many other problems in their lives.

God wants us to have great relationships, but self-rejection and even self-hatred are the roots of many relationship problems. In fact, Ive found the Bible to be a book about relationships, providing valuable advice about my relationship with God, other people and even myself.

How are the relationships with other people in your life? What about your relationship with Godand even with yourself?

Did it ever occur to you that you have a relationship with yourself? While Ive never given it much thought, I spend more time with myself than with anyone, and its vital to get along well with me. Remember, you are the one person you never get away from.

We all know how agonizing it is to work day after day with someone we dont get along with, but at least that person doesnt come home with us at night. We cant get away from ourselves, not even for one second, so its of the utmost importance that we have peace with ourselves.

Many of us fall prey to self-rejection because we feel that nobody really loves us or accepts us. We figure that if nobody else loves us, then why should we love ourselves? Because we think others dont love us, we feel that we must not be worth loving. But thats a LIE weve believed for way too long!

We should love ourselvesnot in a selfish, self-centered way that produces a lifestyle of self-indulgence, but in a balanced, godly way that affirms Gods creation as essentially good and right. We may be flawed by unfortunate experiences weve gone through, but that doesnt mean were worthless and good-for-nothing.

We must have the kind of love for ourselves that says, I know God loves me, so I can love what God chooses to love. I dont love everything I do, but I accept myself because God accepts me. We must develop the kind of mature love that says, I know I need to change, and I want to change. In fact, I believe God is changing me daily, but during this process, I will not reject what God accepts. Ill accept myself as I am right now, knowing that I will not always remain this way.

Many times people who reject themselves do so because they cant see themselves as good, proper, or right. They fail to see themselves the way God sees themas precious children He dearly loves.

As you begin to see yourself through Gods eyessomeone whos loved and cherishedyour view of yourself will begin to change. Youll begin to see yourself not as rejected, but as loved and acceptedunique and beautiful in His sight.

ARE WE TOO BUSY TO LISTEN....... Bob Gass - SATAN Might NOT BE???

The Word For Today with Bob Gass
... that Satan might not outwit us...

Addressing a worldwide convention of demons, satan told them: 'As long as Christians stay close to God we've no power over them, so: 1) Keep them busy with non-essentials. 2) Tempt them to overspend and go into debt. 3) Make them work long hours to maintain empty lifestyles. 4) Discourage them from spending family time, for when homes disintegrate there's no refuge from work. 5) Overstimulate their minds with television and computers so that they can't hear God speaking to them. 6) Fill their coffee tables and nightstands with newspapers and magazines so they've no time for Bible reading. 7) Flood their letter boxes with sweepstakes, promotions and get-rich-quick schemes; keep them chasing material things. 8) Put glamorous models on TV and on magazine covers to keep them focused on outward appearances; that way they'll be dissatisfied with themselves and their mates. 9) Make sure couples are too exhausted for physical intimacy; that way they'll be tempted to look elsewhere. 10) Emphasise Santa and the Easter Bunny; that way you'll divert them from the real meaning of the holidays. 11) Involve them in 'good' causes so they won't have any time for 'eternal' ones. 12) Make them self-sufficient. Keep them so busy working in their own strength that they'll never know the joy of God's power working through them. Do these twelve things faithfully. I promise-it'll work!' Have you figured out the difference between being busy and being successful in what God's called you to do? Sometimes being B-U-S-Y just means Being Under Satan's Yoke

TRUST IN GOD AT ALL TIMES! Encouragement for Today!

"Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?"

John 11:40 (NIV)

Devotion:

Mary, Martha, and their brother Lazarus were in Jesus' inner circle of friends. As part of the "in" crowd, Mary and Martha felt certain Jesus would come to them when Lazarus got ill. They had seen Jesus heal and minister to complete strangers. Surely, He'd come to those whom He loved. However, we see in John 11:4-6 that was not the case.

Jesus indeed loved Mary, Martha and Lazarus. Yet, when He heard that Lazarus was sick He stayed where He was two more days.

Let's pause here for a moment. I find it very confusing that while Jesus loved His friends, He waited two days before He went to their side. These verses appear to validate our fear of rejection. We think, "If Jesus ignored His friend Lazarus, then He can ignore me too."

After my husband died, I felt unloved and forgotten by God. I had trusted Him and believed as His child nothing bad would happen to me. When something bad did happen, I bought Satan's lie. "I knew it, God. I knew You really didn't love me!" I believed Satan's propaganda which caused me to doubt God. He had promised never to leave or desert me, but there I was, alone. How could God betray me? I wondered.

Do you know that hollow, helpless feeling that accompanies the pain of rejection, loss, and loneliness? It may be the loss of your home, the loss of a pregnancy, or perhaps a loved one rejected you in some way. The pain of that rejection warns that trusting again is too risky.

The truth is, when you and I experience either emotional or physical trauma, and God doesn't respond like we think He should, we will do one of two things. Either we turn to God, trusting Him with the result; or we run from God and feed on bitterness. But it doesn't have to be this way. We can learn to trust again.

Perspective is often limited by circumstances. God knows exactly what He's doing in your life and it's always based on love. When I'm overcome with fear I'm not really looking for answers. I'm looking for the assurance that God is near, that He's in control, and He cares about me and my circumstances.

While others may reject us, you and I need not fear rejection from God. As I began to understand that God had not left me, but was in the pit with me, I started to see a deeper truth. Bad things are going to happen to me while on earth. Usually they are the result of living in this fallen world.

Sickness, abuse and death are part of life in a fallen world that God will someday restore. Until then, God may allow me to go through these things. It's not to cause me any undue pain, but rather He allow them and then use them to accomplish spiritual growth. Charles Stanley explains, "Some things are so important to God that they are worth interrupting the happiness and health of His children in order to accomplish them."

This was true with Mary and Martha. Jesus told Martha that she would see the glory of God if she believed. Did you catch that? Believing is seeing. If you and I choose faith over fear, we will see the glory of God turn our pain into life and blessings.

As Mary and Martha believed, they witnessed the glory of God when He raised their brother from the dead. Their fears vanished and their faith was restored. If you and I want to exchange our fear for faith, we must believe that what Christ has in store for us is worth our present pain.

Dear Lord, even when I don't understand Your actions, help me trust that You have my best at heart. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

GET YOUR REST THIS HOLIDAY SEASON from the girlfriends of god

Matthew 11:28-29 (NCV) "Come to me, all of you who are tired and have heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Accept my teachings and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit, and you will find rest for your lives."

It seems that during the holiday season, we frantically race from activity to activity, desperately keeping track of the items on our "to do" lists, but losing sight of who and what and important. I am a Master List Maker! I have even been known to write down things on my list that I have done - just so I could mark them off. I know. But I tend to equate the success of my day with the length of those lists. I constantly battle this behavior...especially during the holidays.

Rest is usually way down on my list of things to do. I am such a slow learner in this area of life. Why, I don't need to rest because ...well, I am Superwoman, right? So very wrong! God is so good to "give" me rest and is so creative in His ways of doing so. Illness, cancelled appointments, missed flights, or unexpected company will force me to stop and rest, focusing on the important things in life like time with God, family, friends, and health. We can cheat this thing called "rest" short-term but the inevitable truth that we need and must rest will play out in our life.

During the holiday season, carve out time each day to rest. Get a good nights' sleep. Take a 10 minute walk. Learn the art of the 15 minute nap. Turn off your phone, don't answer the door and spend 30 minutes in total silence. Play a game with your children or visit a shut-in neighbor. Rest can come in many ways. Discover what replenishes you, what rests your soul, and make it a daily habit.

Let's Pray
Father, forgive me when I abuse my physical body by not getting enough rest. I want to be obedient in this area, but Lord, it seems to be so hard for me. I need Your power to help me make the right choices about how I spend my time. I need Your strength and love to remind and encourage me to be obedient when it comes to rest. I want to praise You and worship You this holiday season by choosing to rest.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.

Now it's Your Turn

Think of one person who is replenishing in your life. Make a plan to spend time with that person this week.

Identify one activity that reduces stress in your life. Make a plan to incorporate that activity into your schedule this week.

Read Psalm 23 every day during the month of December and regularly measure your stress levels.

Make the commitment today to walk in obedience as you learn and choose to rest.

Ask a friend to hold you accountable in learning to rest

THE PORTAL'S OF HEAVEN By Mary Ann Trott

THE PORTALS OF HEAVEN

Oh to see the Portals of Heaven,
and my sweet Saviour standing there.
My heart longs to be with Him
In the land so bright and fare.

I hear Your voice inside my heart,
Calling out to me.
Come my child,
to the land so rich and free!

We walk along those golden streets,
Just my Lord and I,
His presence leaves me breathless,
As I watch Him passing by.

He smiles at me as we stroll along,
The Chrystle Sea so green,
I follow close beside Him,
Such beauty I have never seen!

But no one compares to My precious Lord,
whose nail scarred hands I see,
I fall upon my knees at last,
Giving praise for what He's done for me!

WAY'S TO ENJOY HAPPINESS EVERYDAY OF YOUR LIFE - CORALIE

Daily life can be made happier. It is a matter of choice. It is our attitude that makes us feel happy or unhappy. It is true, we meet all kinds of situations during the day, and some of them may not be conductive to happiness. We can choose to keep thinking about the unhappy events, and we can choose to refuse to think about them, and instead, relish the happy moments. All of us constantly go through various situations and circumstances, but we do not have to let them influence our reactions and feelings.

If we let outer events influence our moods, we become their slaves. We lose our freedom. We let our happiness be determined by outer forces. On the other hand, we can free ourselves from outer influences. We can choose to be happy, and we can do a lot to add happiness to our lives.

What is happiness? It is a feeling of inner peace and satisfaction. It is usually experienced when there are no worries, fears or obsessing thoughts, and this usually happens, when we do something we love to do or when we get, win, gain or achieve something that we value. It seems to be the outcome of positive events, but it actually comes from the inside, triggered by outer events.

For most people happiness seems fleeting, because they let changing outer circumstances affect it. One of the best ways to keep it, is by gaining inner peace through daily meditation. As the mind becomes more peaceful, it becomes easier to choose the happiness habit.

Here are a few tips for increasing happiness in daily life:

1) Endeavor to change the way you look at things. Always look at the bright side. The mind may drag you to think about negativity and difficulties. Don't let it. Look at the good and positive side of every situation.

2) Think of solutions, not problems.

3) Listen to relaxing, uplifting music.

4) Watch funny comedies that make you laugh.

5) Each day, devote some time to reading a few pages of an inspiring book or article.

6) Watch your thoughts. Whenever you catch yourself thinking negative thoughts, start thinking of pleasant things.

7) Always look at what you have done and not at what you haven't.

Sometimes you may begin the day with the desire to accomplish several objectives. At the end of the day you might feel frustrated and unhappy, because you haven't been able to do all of those things.

Look at what you have done, not at what you have not been able to do. You may have accomplished a lot during the day, and yet you let yourself become frustrated, because of some small things that you did not accomplish. You have spent all day successfully carrying out many plans, and instead of feeling happy and satisfied, you look at what was not accomplished and feel unhappy. It is unfair toward yourself.

8) Each day do something good for yourself. It can be something small, such buying a book, eating something you love, watching you favorite program on TV, going to a movie, or just having a stroll on the beach.

9) Each day do at least one act to make others happy. This can be a kind word, helping your colleagues, stopping your car at the crossroad to let people cross, giving your seat in a bus to someone else, or giving a small present to someone you love. The possibilities are infinite. When you make someone happy, you become happy, and then people try to make you happy.

10) Always expect happiness.

11) Do not envy people who are happy. On the contrary, be happy for their happiness.

12) Associate with happy people, and try to learn from them to be happy. Remember, happiness is contagious.

13) Do your best to stay detached, when things do not proceed as intended and desired. Detachment will help you stay calm and control your moods and reactions. Detachment is not indifference. It is the acceptance of the good and the bad and staying balanced. Detachment has much to do with inner peace, and inner peace is conductive to happiness.

14) Smile more often

TOTALLY SAVED - Totally Naked

Totally Saved -Totally Naked

To be a sinner is to be naked, and to be naked is to be ashamed and fearful of God. This sense of nakedness is so awful, that the very first thing Adam and Eve did was try to cover themselves with fig leaves.

Unfortunately, fig leaves are just not good enough to cover up your nakedness, because Adam and Eve were still afraid of God when He came to visit them. The only thing that could truly take away their nakedness and allow them to be comfortable in God's presence, was for God himself to kill an animal, and then give our first parents this animal skin to wear. Genesis 3:1-21

The symbolism here is important. Fig leaves represent human efforts, human excuses, human rationalizations. Because of sin, we know we are naked, and we quickly try to cover ourselves with our own deeds. But it never works. Only God can cover our nakedness, and He can only do that by killing an animal, which is Jesus, "The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world." John 1:29

If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, then your sinful nakedness is covered. To try and gain God's approval by human works is like sewing fig leaves on TOP of the lamb skin God gave you to wear! In fact, your works are so useless in getting you saved, that God doesn't even let you kill the animal. Only God can do that. All you do it wear it.

If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, then you are wearing the covering of the Lamb, given to you freely by God. To try and add to that covering with human works or deeds is only an insult to God and to the Lamb who was stripped naked of even his skin that your sinful nakedness might be covered. God himself has done EVERYTHING needed to cover your nakedness, and that covering guarantees that you can now boldly come into God's presence, because He has taken away your shame, and made you TOTALLY SAVED!

REAL CUSTOMER SERVICE

Real Customer Service

While they were going out, a man who was demon-possessed and could not talk was brought to Jesus. Matthew 9:32

Years ago, it was not uncommon to have your milk delivered to your home. Doctors made house calls. And when you made a call to a company to discuss a problem, you actually spoke to a human being. Those days of personal serivce are gone, and if we are not careful, we will follow the same trend in how we share the gospel.

So often we are encouraged to bring people to church. Yet, we see no examples of where Jesus brought people into the synagogue to get them saved or healed. The miracles happened more often in the marketplace because that was where Jesus could be found. Jesus had less response and found more resistance in the synagogue than in the marketplace. He took the gospel to and modeled the gospel in the marketplace. That is where the power of God was manifested. This is not to say we should not bring people to church, only that our priority should be to bring the Church into the marketplace, not bring the marketplace into the church.

Paul understood this when he said,

My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power (1 Corinthians 2:4).

Paul understood that it wasn't words that impacted people; it was the power of God manifested through him.

When is the last time someone saw something happen through your life that could not be explained other than God working in your life? When you begin to see this happen, you will be modeling ministry as Jesus modeled it. You will be bringing the Church to the people, not the people to the church. Pray that God makes you a vessel of His power, not simply a vessel of words.

Christian Confusion

WHY is it that we as Christians say: "I believe that Jesus died for ALL of my sins" and then in the very next breath say: "BUT only if I repent"?

When we say that, we are in essence, saying (maybe without realizing it) that our repenting or whatever else we do OVERSHADOWS what Jesus did on the cross.

In other words, what Jesus did on the cross was JUST NOT QUITE ENOUGH to completely save me so I must ADD something that he did to stay or get saved and if I don't then God is going to punish me for what Jesus died for.

Those who believe that are not going PAST the cross of Christ to find out EVERYTHING God has applied to the "Finished Works of Christ".

It's what he did AFTER his death that we should be concerned with and it's a shame that most Christians want to go backwards in the Old Testament and the four (gospels) to find their salvation when indeed it is not found there. As Paul says concerning the EARTHLY ministry of Jesus:

"Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the CIRCUMCISION (Israel) for the truth of God, to confirm the PROMISES made unto the fathers. Rom. 15:8

We are members of the "Body of Christ". We are NEW creations in Christ, we have been adopted by God, have received ALL spiritual blessing in heavenly places, are DEAD to the Law and Sin, our life is HID with Christ, we have been MADE the righteousness of God, are in the Spirit and not in the flesh, sealed with the spirit, are COMPLETE in him, we are ACCEPTED in the beloved, HEIRS with Christ. have the fruit of the Spirit, RECONCILED to God by the BLOOD of Christ and saved by HIS life.

Now WHEN did God did all of this happen or does it happen moment by moment as God sits back and wonders what we are going to do next so he can put Plan B into operation?

"For if, when we were ENEMIES, we were (past tense) reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by HIS life." Rom. 5:10

We saved saved by "HIS life" and not by anything we think we can do or not do. There is only room for one savior and it's not us.

" And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through THE FAITH OF CHRIST, the righteousness which is of God by faith." Phil. 3:9.

Did you SEE IT? The "FAITH of Christ".

The NEW YEAR's Prayer

New Year Prayer

God grant us this year a wider view,
So we see others' faults through the eyes of You.
Teach us to judge not with hasty tongue,
Neither the adult ... nor the young.

Give us patience and grace to endure
And a stronger faith so we feel secure.
Instead of remembering, help us forget
The irritations that caused us to fret.

Freely forgiving for some offense
And finding each day a rich recompense.
In offering a friendly, helping hand
And trying in all ways to understand;

That all of us whoever we are ...
Are trying to reach an unreachable star.
For the great and small ... the good and bad,
The young and old ... the sad and glad

Are asking today; Is life worth living?
The answer is only in, loving and giving.
For only Love can make man kind
And Kindness of Heart brings Peace of Mind.

By giving love, we can start this year
To lift the clouds of hate and fear.

Here is a nice Native poem from A friend on Native Smoke Signals Website

Wherever You Are

Whenever your shadow falls on stony ground
And there's not a hand for you to hold
Whenever the dreams you dream come crashing down

Every time you think of home
Remember that you're not alone
And I'll be with you heart and soul
Wherever you are

And if you should lose the path along the way
And find yourself walking in the dark
Whenever the ones you love seem far away

Every time you think of home
Remember that you're not alone
And I'll be with you heart and soul
Wherever you are

Whenever the fears you hide come reaching through

Every time you think of home
Remember that you're not alone
And I'll be with you heart and soul

Every time you think of home
Remember that you're not alone
And I'll be with you heart and soul

And I'll be with you heart and soul
I'll be with you heart and soul
Wherever you are, wherever you are

I'm with you heart and soul...

Christian Right Insiders Reveal Racism, Virulent Anti-Immigrant Attitudes and Homophobia in Prominent Religious Group | Belief | AlterNet

Link
Jesus himself wouldn't support some of these racial remarks or statement's made by this pastor. He himself know's that he has no room to Judge anybody. He is only human & he is not above anyone here on earth. Unless he can prove that God himself gave him the authority to make these types of decision's upon his knowledge. I don't condone such behavior by anyone, especially if they claim to be a man of God.

PBS Just as Corporate, White, Male and Republican as Commercial TV SpeakEasy

Link I totally agree with this statement. Most of the programming is paid for by Corporations that want their side of each subject shown, their ways? So how could that be diverse? It's all FAKE & whoever pays the most, get's the most AIRTIME just like regular Television. THE WHOLE IDEA OF PUBLIC WAS LOST!

SOMETHING SCARY JUST IN TIME FOR HALLOWEEN, The WENDIGO

The Wendigo is a non-dead creature that roams the earth destroying the good- hearted and those in love. His fate is to wander the Earth feasting on human hearts. The first Wendigo was a mortal who was betrayed by his sweetheart. In revenge for the treachery, he slew his love and ate her heart. Rather than savor the warmth of revenge, his heart was in turn, turned to ice. During daylight hours, and the phases of the moon, the Wendigo looks as you or I. Beware the Wendigo on the three days of the full moon when his power and appetite are greatest. Beware being attacked by the Wendigo. He duplicates himself by attacking but not killing his prey.

THE ONLY KEY

THE ONLY KEY

Love is the only key
that fits in Paradise ports.
It is a piece of Paradise
in every smile, in every good word.,
in every kindness to another.
It is a piece of paradise in every heart
that being a port to a unhappy man,
in each house becomes a home with bread and wine,
with a little human warmth
and a song in the evening.
It is a piece of paradise
in each oasis where love blooms
and people have become human again
for humans, they have become a family,
are brothers and sisters for each other.

Love is your responsibility.
If you lack love,
you can not say that it is God's responsibility
for the misery in this world.
God put his love in your hands
as a key to the gates of every
little piece of paradise.

Some people have a heart of gold.
Of everything they do, it radiates love.
Others do not trust his heart
and never do what your heart
ives them an impulse to do.
It's a shame. Their heart silenced

PSALM 98:1 - 98:9 SING A SONG FOR YAHWEH

Psalm 98

1 Sing to Yahweh a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand, and his holy arm, have worked salvation for him.
2Yahweh has made known his salvation. He has openly shown his righteousness in the sight of the nations.
3He has remembered his loving kindness and his faithfulness toward the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
4Make a joyful noise to Yahweh, all the earth! Burst out and sing for joy, yes, sing praises!
5Sing praises to Yahweh with the harp, with the harp and the voice of melody.
6With trumpets and sound of the ram's horn, make a joyful noise before the King, Yahweh.
7Let the sea roar with its fullness; the world, and those who dwell therein.
8Let the rivers clap their hands. Let the mountains sing for joy together.
9Let them sing before Yahweh, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.

YOUR SHEPHERD AND LORD

Your Shepherd And Lord

"The Lord is my shepherd... " - Psalm 23:1

Abraham Lincoln wrote, 'I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go. My wisdom, and that of all about me, seemed insufficient for the day.' All of us feel that way at times. That's because we are all sheep in need of a shepherd. Of all God's creatures, sheep seem the least able to care for themselves. They're directionless: they'll walk off a cliff or wander into a river and drown. They're defenceless: they've no claws so they can't fight, run fast or climb a tree to safety. They're dirty: your cat and dog can clean themselves, but sheep get dirty and stay that way. You say, 'I don't like being compared to sheep.'All right, then answer these questions. How well do you control your impulses? Do you ever play the victim? Can you relate to Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde? Are you always upbeat and upright? Do you add to the conflict and confusion, or do you always make peace? Do you truly love people, or do you just use them for your own ends? Are you generous, or do you mostly give to those who have something to give back to you? On a scale of one to ten, how do you score when it comes to the fear of people, or failure, or sickness, or death, or rejection or risk? Is your life an open book? How often do you fail and need forgiveness: weekly? daily? hourly? It sounds like you need a shepherd! So instead of saying, 'The Lord is my shepherd', try saying, 'Because I need a shepherd, I make You Lord of my life'.
